Diabetes Week 2025

Why Diabetes Week Matters

Diabetes affects more than five million people in the UK alone—and many more remain undiagnosed. Diabetes Week is our annual opportunity to shine a light on what living with diabetes really looks like, break down stigma and, most importantly, share life‑saving information.

This Year’s Theme: "Let’s Talk Health Checks"

For 2025, Diabetes UK is focusing on the essential annual health checks that everyone with diabetes should receive. These simple tests pick up early signs of complications so people can keep doing the work and hobbies they love.

The 8 Key Checks

  1. HbA1c (average blood‑sugar levels)
  2. Blood pressure
  3. Cholesterol and blood fats
  4. Kidney function (urine & blood tests)
  5. Foot examination
  6. Eye screening
  7. Weight / BMI review
  8. Smoking status & lifestyle discussion

If you or someone you care about lives with diabetes, make sure these checks are on the calendar—and don’t be afraid to chase them up.

Why It Hits Home for Our Community

Long shifts, seasonal peaks and remote locations can make regular appointments tough for farmers, tradespeople and site workers. Skipped meals, reliance on convenience foods and limited GP access all increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes.

That’s where we come in.

How Xpert Is Stepping Up

1. Partnerships That Matter

  • Donation: We donate 1 % of sales to charitable causes that included Diabetes UK & Diabetes Ireland, and use our platforms to spread evidence‑based information.
  • Supporting Health in Agriculture: In May 2025 we launched a joint rural‑health campaign with Diabetes Ireland, driving awareness and educational resources to remote farming communities.

2. One Million Step Challenge

Last year our team smashed 400,000+ steps on the Giant’s Causeway to kick‑off Diabetes UK’s summer fundraiser. We’re lacing up again this Summer and aiming for an even bigger total—join us or sponsor the team!
